My husband, Edward Smith, when complimenting me on the hats I adorn incorporates the phrase, “my baby’s hat …”. He would often say, “Nedra, your love for hats and the desire to share your passion with others provides a business opportunity for you”. And in June of 2003, Edward’s vision and my flair for fashion coupled together to create “My Baby’s Hats and Accessories” .

My fascination with fashion and accessories began when I was a teenager, growing up in New Orleans, LA. An attempt to disguise a bad hair day grew into a desire to look fashionable despite any circumstances. I would couple my hats with a matching scarf and accessorize the ensemble with a fashionable pin or brooch. I spent countless hours looking through fashion magazines and catalogs in order to stay abreast of the latest fashion trends. The confidence of the fashion models fueled a desire physically to feel the displayed radiance; therefore, I began to recruit my family and friends as models in order to adorn them with beautiful hats and accessories.

My early career choices consisted of working for major department stores and boutiques in New Orleans and cities in the state of California. My current career exposes me to major fashion markets in the cities of Paris, Rome, London, Hong Kong, New York, Los Angeles and Canadian ports.

I consider it an honor to share my love for hats and accessories with each person browsing our website, thumbing through the catalog, attending style shows and shopping in boutiques featuring “My Baby’s Hats and Accessories”.
